SP AusNet selects Landis+Gyr for WiMAX Advanced Metering Infrastructure rollout
Landis+Gyr, the global leader in energy management and advanced metering technology, announced today that it has been selected to support SP AusNet’s rollout of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) program.
Under this agreement, Landis+Gyr will provide smart meters required by SP AusNet for the initial rollout phase to meet the Victorian Government mandate.
Currently, this is the single largest order of WiMAX-ready smart meters in the world. Developed at Landis+Gyr’s Centre of Excellence based in Sydney, and manufactured locally, these smart meters have a patented design and are built to withstand Australia’s harsh conditions.
Landis+Gyr’s smart meters provide the opportunity for utilities to offer consumers a broad array of new pricing, demand response and energy automation options that enhance the efficiency and reliability of the electricity grid and deliver better environmental outcomes. Energy consumers will benefit from more information, expanded choices, and simplified management of their energy.
Steve Jeston, CEO, Landis+Gyr Australasia said “we are proud to be chosen by SP AusNet for all their current smart metering requirements. Landis+Gyr is pleased to partner with SP AusNet to deliver on the promise of a smarter grid, by providing our innovative smart meters. The fact that this product has been developed by our local team in Australia makes us all the more proud.”
